More important than what a company does is why they do it. Why are they in a specific field of work? Why do they have certain processes in place? Why do they conduct business in a certain way?
This is the story of our why.
AV-Tech is different than other organizations. We put service above everything and are built more like a family than a corporation. Our team is extremely close and passionate about what they do. This past February, our team was shaken to its core as we lost a special human being and team member. Tommie Brooks was taken from the world at the tender age of 35. He personified everything it means to be a part of the AV-Tech family and left an unforgettable impression on everyone he came across.
You could tell by the size of Tommie’s funeral back in Mississippi, how loved he was and how many different hearts he touched. He built more relationships over his 35 years than most would hope to in a lifetime. What stood out about Tommie was his dedication to his work and the team around him. He woke up at 4 am every morning and took three buses, just to make it to the office by 7 am. He was never a minute late and not once made an excuse. No task was too large or too small, and he showed up every day with the biggest smile on his face, no matter the circumstance.
When pressures fueled within the workplace, Tommie stayed cool and his composure radiated throughout the entire building. He left a lasting mark on all of us, and this indelible imprint permeated to the surface a few months back as he was celebrated and memorialized by his coworkers and customers. In honor of his memory, the sound booth that he most often served and supported from was renamed Tommie’s Perch. Speaking with those who took part in the celebration, it was apparent how much Tommie was loved, and the impact he had on everyone who crossed his path. With three simple words, Tommie could reassure everyone that no matter what, everything was going to be okay. The words he constantly uttered were, “I Got You”.
Just three small but authentic words could instantly let our team and customers know everything was under control. It is a breath of fresh air and a calming sensation of relief. Tommie’s catchphrase embodies AV-Tech’s why and is the backbone of our organization. Changing the I to a We, “We Got You”, conveys Tommie’s calming presence and reassures our customers that just like Tommie, we’ve got their back… completely.
“We Got You”, is more than a campaign. It is an identity of who we are and how we operate here at AV-Tech. It is a way to continue Tommie’s legacy and a powerful reminder of why we do, what we do. All AV-Tech employees have this intrinsic trait inside of them, and this declaration is a way to reflect and convey it as the very heart of our culture.
We have your back, no matter the circumstance.
